Park City, Utah- A Guide For Both Summer & Winter Trips

Park City, Utah may be one of my all time favorite mountain towns. At just 40ish minutes from Salt Lake City it makes for a super simple place to visit for a long weekend. I have visited in Summer and Winter and either way you will find a million things to do! Follow this guide for ideas to create a fantastic Park City getaway!

Getting There

Fly into Salt Lake City International Airport. SLC is an incredibly simple airport to fly into. It is clean, easy to navigate, and not large. There are several options to get to Park City from Salt Lake City. The easiest and most flexible option once in Park City will be renting a car. SLC has all major car rental companies and many will have options to add ski racks or additional roof storage. Another option is to Uber/Lyft. Depending on the variables the rate could cost anywhere from $50-$150. Canyon Transportation provides shuttles to Park City & directly to the different mountains. These rates range from $95-$180.

Park City Airbnb Views

During my time in Park City I have camped, stayed at a hotel, and rented an Airbnb. Your selection will be based on the type of trip you want to have and the location you want to be in. I personally loved staying at the Airbnb the best because it was walking distance to downtown and the views were stunning. If you are going with an Airbnb I highly recommend picking one that is walking distance to downtown. It is a game changer to be able to walk to dinner & home from drinks. Also, if you are planning on hitting the slopes there is a lift right in the center of town to take you to the top of the mountain!

Park City has so many nice hotels and if I were to go on a luxury trip to Park City there is no other hotel I would pick than the St. Regis. The St. Regis is technically in Deer Valley, but it is a 10 min ride to downtown Park City via shuttle or car. It is a beautiful hotel with every amenity you could imagine. Forbes recently listed the best luxury hotels in Park City & you can check it out here. Park City also has a lot of budget friendly and mid range hotels to choose from just outside of the downtown area and still close to the slopes.

If you are visiting during the warmer months and want to experience camping, I highly recommend Jordanelle State Park. There are many options for camping (tents or RV hookups) and the lake is beautiful. You can go boating, paddling, or hiking. There are also very nice facilities.

Where to Eat & Drink

Breakfast/Lunch:

Harvest: This is a great place for healthy options including smoothies, toasts, and eggs.

The Eating Establishment: A fun place for classic breakfast all day!

Nosh: Israeli-inspired food on the outskirts of downtown Park City. This food was unreal and aesthetically pleasing!

Dinner: I highly recommend grabbing reservations weeks before your trip, especially in winter.

Chimayo: This was one of my favorite places I ate in Park City. They serve Southwest-style food and the building decor is awesome. The Margaritas and the Queso Fundido were amazing!

Pine Cone Ridge: This is a contemporary American restaurant that had a huge selection for our group when we went. We sat at the bar and there was good energy. The staff were so kind as well!

The Spur Bar & Grill : This was an easy place to grab a table, the drinks were great, and all at a good price point compared to other fancier restaurants! I highly recommend the cheese curds, ha!

Drinks:

High West Saloon: A distillery that serves great cocktails! If you are skiing you can take the run all the way down and end your day right at High West Saloon!

No Name Saloon: A trip to Park City isn’t complete without going out at least one night to No Name Saloon. Its a huge spot and has a nice rooftop.

Flanagan’s on Main: An Irish Bar that has a downstairs with darts, live music, and great vibes!

O’Shucks: Dive bar! Also…has Buck Hunter!

Things To Do

Hiking: My favorite thing to do when I was there in the summer was hike and trail run on the ski mountain. The mountain is accessible from downtown and many trails connect. You can choose your own adventure and distance once you are up on the trails.

Visit Utah Olympic Park: This is a fun place to see the sights of the Winter Olympic facilities. If you are lucky you may see people practicing ski jumps into the pool in summer. You can also do a bobsled experience where you reach 70mph!

Visit The Homestead Crater: Located in Midway, Utah (about 25 mins from Park City) there is a geothermal hot spring within a cave that you can swim, snorkel, dive, or take a paddle board yoga class in!

The Vintage Room @ St. Regis: During the winter the Vintage Room has DJs and a massive Après party. This is a fun way to spend an afternoon dancing and drinking champagne. I highly recommend a table reservation (even though it will cost $$$) otherwise you will have to stand in a line and wait until others leave before getting in.

Skiing/Boarding: There are 6 Ski Resorts all around Park City. I have only skied Park City as it is on the Epic Pass. Park City is a massive resort and could keep you busy for days. You could also check out Alta, Snowbird, Brighton Resort, Deer Valley (Ski only), and Solitude!

Shopping: There are so many good shops on & around Main Street. If you are a Real House Wives fan, you can visit Meredith Marks store on Main Street. Another of my favorites is Cake Boutique for women's clothing & skincare.

You will not run out of things to do in Park City and it will be a fun trip anytime of the year you choose to visit! I recommend spending a minimum of 4 days here as there is SO much to explore. If you have never been to Salt Lake City you could add on a day or two there to your trip as well.

Happy exploring!
